Greetings brothers and sisters,
I have been away for a while due to RL issues and I am very sad that I return with bad news which I presume you already know. Ronnie James Dio passed away.
As most of you know he was fighting stomach cancer for sometime now. The last six months he started chemo and he strongly believed that he will win. His last public appearance was at the 'Revolver Golden Gods Awards' (April 8). Almost one month later (May 15) he was transferred to the hospital because of problems that the therapy caused.
May 16, 7:45: metal history changes forever. R.J.Dio is no longer with us. Allow me to disagree with that. You all know him so i will no longer write about sad news. On the contrary he lives forever. I will remind you why he is an immortal.
He is a 'Holy Diver', he is 'The Last in Line', 'Rising' above 'Heaven and Hell'. 'Don't talk to strangers' cause he is 'The Devil you know' who will sing forever wearing medieval clothes, singing about rainbows and dragons. With Black Sabbath or solo he was most probably the best and most influential singer in the world. This is proven by the number of bands, singers, guitarists and musicians in general that expressed their condolences to his family. From Tony Iommi to Slash and from Billy Corgan to Arch Enemy. Musicians from every metal genre .
Hell, he is the man that 'discovered' the Metal Horns.
A great man indeed, a great loss it is.
I am still whining about his loss, forgive me i couldn't help it.
