Review: Disturbed - Indestructible
June 7th 2008 14:51
Hello again everyone. It's time for my first album review. I'll probably do one every so often.
Today's review is the brand new album from Disturbed, "Indestructible".
Now keeping in mind that they did pre-release a couple of tracks, I have to say that I'm suitably impressed with Dave and the boys, however, it's nothing ground-breaking for them either.
Disturbed are one of the bands setting standard of what defines Metal in this century. Just as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden were in the 80's, Disturbed are one of the bands that Metal fans will look back on and view as an integral part of the development of Heavy Metal.
"Indestructible" is pretty much a mix of the sounds from Disturbed's first and third albums. It's the kind of stuff we've come to expect from them, and they deliver it just as well as they always have. Some awesome riffs and vocals, however, I do find that some of the songs tend to fade into the background a little bit, much in the same way as a few of the songs on their last album, "Ten Thousand Fists".
Perhaps this comes down to the production. Disturbed co-produced "Ten Thousand Fists" and they produced "Indestructible" on their own, so they have much more control over all parts of the project.
Something else the band has continued doing is using very sensitive subject matter. Track 2, "Inside the Fire", which was one of the pre-release tracks and is the first single from the album, deals with the subject of suicide, something that David has experienced in his life.
Another area where the band never fails to deliver is the cover art. Once again they have managed to step it up, using their "Shadowface" figure once more.
So, to summarize, "Indestructible" is nothing short of what one should expect from Disturbed, and while not really breaking any new ground musically, is still a very solid effort that any Disturbed fan will enjoy.
As usual, comments welcome.

Although, I do find that bands like KSE and Machine Head are exceptions to this. They produce their own work most of the time and it turns out pretty good.

I Hyped Disturbed on Everhype and gave it 18% which I think is fairly accurate.
Really Long Link
I wouldn’t mind getting some opinions on it . If you get on there, rate me a 5 & request friendship.

While I will admit that this album doesn't really evolve from Ten Thousand Fists, it still contains some killer tracks. When I saw them play live in Sydney, tracks like Perfect Insanity, Inside the Fire, and Indestructible sent the audience into a frenzy.
